"HALLELUJAH" - SteveProbst.net Track of the Month

Here's the video to go along with my single of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"

My version of the Leonard Cohen penned classic.
I recorded this song for a music industry pitch (TaxiMusic.com) a while back and then it was forwarded for a further listen by the party looking for covers of this song to use in a film or TV project. Well, I never heard back and I decided, after getting some real nice feedback from a lot of you, to put it out myself as a single!

Vocals and all instruments by Steve Probst
Recorded and produced by Steve Probst

Reviews:

"His heart felt Hallelujah's sung with his unique velvety voice leaves one hypnotized, mesmerized. It is impossible to describe with mere words. Stunning. Haunting. Enchanting. Moving, perhaps. Once you hear it, it's in your brain forever..." ~ Marilyn, AZ

"Man, this song is great. I know its been done over and over but it is really great." B. Hobbs, PA

The Unlikely Ascent of "Hallelujah"

After recording my version "Hallelujah", I posted a first copy of it online sort of like a preview. Weeks down the road, as I was considering the idea of releasing the song myself, a thoughtful friend of Hotel California from Arizona, Marilyn, brought me this book ("The Holy or the Broken - Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley & the Unlikely Ascent of "Hallelujah") by Alan Light before one of our shows:

It was very timely - I'm actually glad I waited till after recording and singing this song, before I read the book. There are so many ways to interpret the lyric. I enjoyed the read very much! This quote says it all. Thanks again, Marilyn!

New Single! - "HALLELUJAH"

As previously posted on my blog, I recorded this song for a Taxi Music pitch a while back and then it was forwarded for a further listen by the party looking for covers of this song to use in a film or TV project.

Well, I never heard back and I decided, after getting some real nice feedback from a lot of you, to put it out myself as a single! I've always liked the song but never learned it.  Tried to keep the arrangement simple. You may find it interesting or maybe strange - there are no guitars in this recording!

And with my new website I can sell it right here, directly to you.  Later on it will appear on all the other online stores, but for now, here it is!

Listen to the preview HERE. Buy if you like it and please share! Thanks!!

(Only available as a digital download. Please contact me if you are... "digitally challenged(?)".  I want everybody to be able to enjoy this.)

Gave this a shot, and "scored":

MUSIC LIBRARY U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y needs COVER VERSIONS of "Over The Rainbow" (often referred to as “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”) from The Wizard of Oz, and “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. They’re anxiously waiting to hear super creative, original interpretations of these Songs to pitch for a particular TV show. Please check out the links below to hear a few different versions of the Songs: “Over The Rainbow” by Judy Garland: http://bit.ly/1hMnDUR “Over The Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole: http://bit.ly/1kj0yIx “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen: http://bit.ly/1dPV0ag “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley: http://bit.ly/1eBwreY Your Cover can literally be in ANY GENRE and ANY TEMPO! This is your chance to get creative and give us your twist on these classic Songs. You can submit stripped-down acoustic versions, OR over the top productions with lots of bells and whistles. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Covers with male, female, duet, group, A cappella, etc., vocals will all be considered. Your vocal performance should be Top-Notch, and do a great job of conveying the emotional essence of the Song.
